I trolled this stocky barra up out the front of Sampan Tuesday morning

I only spent an hour trolling as I generally fall asleep at the wheel on solo trips and end up somewhere on the mudflats so I prefer to flick but while I was there I caught a nice fish and watched plenty of boats catching fish but think a fair few were Powertail, as also got a few of those too

I flicked up this guy and 15 of his mates in a creek somewhere in Sampan creek Monday arvo with about 20 missed opportunities, all healthy solid fish but not to yellow in the tails

Road was good in after weekend traffic from the neaps, on the way out it p...ed it down so the raod got a good work out with the 20 odd boats leaving for the day!!

Cheers for the report mate, top stuff on the aerial photos. Excellent colour change there on sampan.

The colour change was quite away from the mouth last Saturday. Looks like it’s made it well and truly now

Great pics new fisherman.
It looks like an inland sea there at the moment
Flew over that area on Tuesday on a day trip to ranger mine.
We were a bit further inland on our route and went almost over the barrage
There was a lot of water over the floodplains then.
When I went to fly back Thursday arvo it p...ed down that much the plane could not land.
That would have added a lot more water to the system.
We ended up having to be bussed back that night.
Suppose to be back at 5.30, made it home at 10.
Intresting trip home but was suprised after the all the rain that Mary bridge and scot creek were not over the road.

I had a look at the second and third barrages as well. The second there was water everywhere. The third, well the channel is a little overgrown and the channel was blocked by a massive clump of grass not far from the barrage so I could not get to it.

I also sat on a corner a few km from the mouth of sampan as the tide came in and sounded out many massive fishing coming up the creek , all with their heads looking up for a feed as they passed this little creek mouth i was sitting on , I spent a while trying to vibe them up but the ignored my efforts, which was frustrating but fun to see the big fish swim past on the Hummingbird Mega SI

Doesn't it. I flicked up a 70's , it was about 74 That I kept that looked the same, big fat body with a stumpy looking tail, its tail was half and half too... half yellow half black.

Maybe they are billabong fish and dont have to swim as far as ocean fish, so they are not as lean. There is alot of food in the system so maybe they are just fat from eating to much!!

Definitely been in a good paddock! Daly fish were like this a few years ago as well.
Good aerial pics mate, just makes me even keener to get home from work.....
