Has anyone seen or heard of wild deer being up here in the territory?

Heard rumours of a private operator (farm) that had quite a population years back and eventually they were all turned free.
Supposedly they bred up and there is still a pocket of bush that holds them. No info on the actual location though.

There's been a good few on Prince of Wales Island in the Torres Strait for decades so they can thrive in north Australian habitat.

Sambar deer on the Coburg peninsular - a safari mob used to operate out of the huts there 25 years ago.

Mary River East station has a few and they run safaris for them. There is also a big mob of Chital on Tipperary station but no public hunting for them

There are a few pockets of them around the Territory. Mary river to pine creek is one of them. A few of the islands north east of Arnhem land have them and coburg has them. Rare to see them but yes they are there. There is also the odd stray around Darwin River but they usually don't last long. :chef2:
