Once a very common site around the Territory in the 1980's

Especially along headwaters of the Vic River around Wave Hill (Kalkarindji)

I haven't seen one for years

Have they been shot into extintion :|

Gee... drop bears must have been hunted to extinction a long time ago if 21st Century Territorians don't seem to know anything about them.. :???: ... or have I been around too long..... :|

Drop bears are rare nowadays but are still around. The fact is those who see them never live to tell the tale, those who don't see them live to wonder where they are

Don't forget the hoop snakes. Had a couple chase some dudes through the scrub one day. All you could see was dust.

drop bears where common back in QLD up until 2002 when they reduced the alcohol content of bundy and cola cans from 5.5% to 5% and they also reduced the size of the UP rum bottles from 750ml to 700ml. that combined with a price increase from about $17 a bottle to $30 a bottle, sightings have now been reduced to almost 0.
