Interesting story about this coastal ghost town .... https://edition.cnn.com/travel/article/ ... index.html

I went there years ago and watched tuskies swim past the wharf with the incoming tide.

Interesting place but it has an odd feel about it, 'ghost town' describes it well.

Probably a few barra there to be had, if you can find one in between the skinnies, jacks etc.

Had one of my best days launching from the ramp at cossack and heading out from there into some coastal creeks. We were using livies and had caught about 20 barra by lunchtime. Last fish caught was a bit under a metre 30 caught on a hard body. Awesome day out

That sounds much better than I thought it would be for barra. The locals were pretty quiet about the barra scene when I was there. At Cossack wharf I thought I heard barra boofing up the creek.

At Ashburton River I hooked a barra casting to a snag in the tidal section, the locals had told me they don't catch them there, except for the odd one in the fresh ... not sure if they just don't fish right for them if they were keeping secrets :D

I grew up in the area and those coastal creeks out from Cossack are some of the best creeks in the Pilbara. Would have to be one of the most secretive communities when it comes to fishing though!
