Fish reef

Finally managed to get out for a fish on Saturday.
Got a new 140 on the boat 3 months back and only got 7 hrs on it due to work and a bike crash.
Ran around early and had a reasonable run over , a bit lumpy at charles as usual.
Hit some bommies west of the reef but were swamped by small red fish, strippies, cod and sharks.
Nothing worth keeping and baits lasting 10 secs on the bottom every time.
With a storm coming over we decided to trawl around the reef into Byno and came across acres of birds and fish busting up.
Caught heaps of small queenies casting to the schools but the storm caucht up with us.
As it got very rough with the wind and incoming tide we decided to trawl for some macks but could not get away from the queenies .
The ones we trawled up were all about 80cm with lures lasting 30 secs in the water at one stage. 8)
Gave up when the decky started complaining about sore arms after about 1 1/2 hrs of madness.
Went to run over to charles but had fuel issues which took a bit to fix so once on the way ran back to town.
Good way to get back into it.
Will sort out the fuel probs and get on the water more.
Sorry no pics, small stuff not worth it and the queenie sesh was kayos and didnt have time.

Good report, ty. I'd kill for a few reddies!

Looked lumpy for the recent billfish comp, lot of Top End fires earlier, a windy dry year.
