Shady

Post by jersy »

Went out to Shady Wed/Thursday this week. Finished 1st troll near the mouth and pulling a u turn when I saw the missus line hooked around the motor. Next minute the reel starts screaming. Thought the line was in the prop. Turned off the motor and flicked the line off the cowling. big splash at back of the boat and the reel still going off. She reeled in a ripper 87cm barra which was released after 10 mins of swimming. Good start. quiet after that besides a good threadie for the pan. Went back out yesterday for just the one 80cm threadie, but a great day all the same . Pity we wernt targeting jelly fish. Buggers were thick for a k or so up the creek. Only 4 trailers at the ramp and a few flicking off the barrage. Road is like a highway.

Jellyfish can be very seasonal, they started a commercial jellyfish operation at the Roper or McArthur decades ago, no sooner had they got going than the jellyfish disappeared. So I was told by a local down there.

87cm is a huge fish by global standards, 30cm is a giant down here :D
