If You were going to Set Up a "Semi Private" Fishing Base, where would it be?
It might be Open to a few Camper's, to help Pay the Rent, but primarily personal.
Looking at areas like -
Daly River
Dundee Beach
Dundee Downs
Southport
Wagait Beach

Southport seem's Cheap enough, but I have no idea, what the fishing is like out of there.

But, there has to be other locations, that I am currently not concidering.

Make sure that you consider current and future land claims. You wouldn't want your dream place ripped from under you

Thank You for your input, I now have some more home work to do.
I went for a run out to Southport Today, for a look.

Flickin, 5 minutes after I own it.

Labelle downs station on the Reynolds river. Piles of good Barra in untouched billabongs, Mission Hole on Elizabeth downs station or Moon Billabong on Litchfield station/Lower Daly.

Or if you can work out how to negotiate with the TO's and the NLC there are some great spots on the Moyle and Little Moyle rivers in the Daly river/Port Keats lands trust, or some good spots on the Finniss.

I'm happy enough to accept free camping for life for providing these first rate suggestions.

I did see that advert Ninja, nearly rang up about it. But could not convince myself, there would not be hidden drama's, that I would not be expecting.

Wombat, I would love a location down there.

Personally, I think it would be great, if NTG, could negotiate with a Couple of Traditional Owners, to Sell (pick a Number) 20,000 Acres, in a Prime near Coastal location, 30 Km from a Comunity, so that we are far enough away, not to be in each other's faces, but close enough, to share Roads etc.

An area large enough, to support a Couple of Caravan Parks, General Store, 50 X 1 Acre Blocks, and a Couple of small Farms.

I think it would improve Roads, to some of these out of the way locations, which would also bring Tourists, which would atract Jobs, and it would be a Win, Win.

Nice pipe dream, but the fact is that Aboriginal owned land can NEVER be sold, EVER.
The best that can be hoped for is a long term lease, and good luck with negotiating that.
Check your private email for a possible option.

Bigwoody is right, there are prime spots on Aboriginal land but you couldn't buy it even if the TO wanted to sell it and you'd need to be a master negotiator to make it happen. Pastoral leases would be a much easier option but still hard, especially given how often ownership of the lease turns over. The NT has a real lack of freehold land in good fishing locations.
