Second drilling rig off Darwin

Post by Matt Flynn »

There's a second drilling rig off Darwin, closer in than the Stena Clyde. Apparently heaps of fish and squid but security zone restrictions may apply, will post more later.

Thats it Nomad. It was the last rig I worked on. Matt, I can email the Radio Op if you like to find out exclusion zones?

Lats, The Stena Clyde is ‘laid up’ and this is ‘active’. Does that mean its drilling?

Active will mean it's ready for deployment. From memory the Stena Clyde is in care and maintenance so i wouldn't expect this new rig to be around for long.

Lats, if you can get the good oil on the rig so to speak, that would be great.

They have minimal crew and here until April when their next contract starts. They are not chasing people away. But I'd expect that to change closer to April when they man up and have tenders loading them up

They are not drilling. But if they were and hit the jackpot, Inpex would be p...ed off after they just laid thousands of km of pipe to Browse Basin

You can see the rig from the East Point in the distance.

Yep, and from Lee Point. You would be able to see the Stena Clyde from it, so no need for GPS marks.
