How has it been fishing since it was moved?

Went there two weeks ago to fish over the 6.30pm high tide. Note for new players if you plan to fish the gutters or the reefs at Fenton, do it over the neaps. The wind didn't play the game and we bashed into a 10-15knot NE wind with the goal to trawl some gars and find a sail or two but the water was poop, clarity was shot.

Headed west to the rig, logtails busting up within a few nM of the platform, we landed 1 tuna bu they where on the move quick so we just fast trolled to the rig in the hope of a Spanish Mack, none popped up.

It was a fish a cast, you could be selective if you had the right technique, we wanted lomtails and they seemed to be on the edge and you had to see then jump well clear of the water to know you had a shot, we used the smallest Halco Outcast lures we could with a single SL 12 hook for ease of release and landed another 4 tuna and a few queenfish and trevs as bycatch if the cast was wrong.

No poop, cast a fish kind of stuff, if you can get there and have visitors they will never forget it!

Target was macks, sails and squid as we heard overnight they come up but we got none. 4 healthy long tails to 8kg filled the esky anyway.

2 hour trip out and 1.5 home in the dark. Calm day below 10 knots and it's anyone's game! Get into it before she apparently shifts off.

She hasn't moved either, same spot as 12 months ago. Very expensive exercise to shift a rig so that hasn't happened. Head up south gutter and you'll see her, spot on my marks for last year.

Ime looking forward to another mad Mackies session out there once i have cleaned out my freezer from the last trip.

Matt your marks put us right on it, perfect. Couldn't miss it from 15 kms away with all that light but.
Left Dynah beach 1.00 Sunday morning for a mellow trip out, bit lumpy, and were trolling by 4.00.
First circle double hook up and both my deckies had PB fish, 118 and 110. Over the next couple of hours landed another 4 Spaniards, all around 110, and plenty of trevors, GT's and long toms.
Have never seen so much action, from sharks and dolphins to 100's of mackies airborn all morning. Great trip.

......going to be sad day when it packs up and moves on

What size boats are people generally heading out their in??

Scott it's depends on your experience and how well you know your boat and the weather... it's about 60km so it can be very rough... saying that I have take my 5m boat lots of times. But I pick the weather. I have seen 4.5m boats there but doesn't mean it was a good idea.

Yeah it's all about weather that distance out. I have a 6.1m boat but left the ramp at 2am and left the rig at 0630 to get home before the wind gets up. Smashed the fish

That south-easter can hammer in early sometimes. Hate to be out there on the wrong day.

if the boat's too small could always ask Arafura FC or Equinox FC to do a charter out there, get a few mates together.

I did a daytime trip a few weeks ago. Thousands of fish on the sounder around the 20m mark
Checked out windytv and willy weather and both forecast calm conditions but It was rough as guts. By the time I got back in the harbor, the wind had dropped right off.
Couldn’t stand up to drop a rig down so tried to troll but couldn’t get down to them.
Maybe a big downrigger might be the go?
Tried trolling but no good.
Good weather is a must.
Might try again when the winds drop off

someone on Facey said there was a patrol boat warning them out of the area last night.............maybe true,maybe not........its getting flogged to bits now but still produces without fail.
I wouldn't be out there in anything less than a 5 metre, the last couple of trips i have done were meant to be perfect but were pretty ordinary.
