Time to upgrade the old pedal/remote minnkota and get an upgrade to an anchor/spotlock jobby. .Anyone looking to upgrade? Also chasing ideas on new vs 2nd hand. Local or interstate purchase? Not fussed with either brand. 👍

ya, its been tough looking for one. I've been looking for a month now. a guy had an 80lb Minn Kota on Gumtree yday, but i dont want the weight or added cost of more batteries. I've already for a battery to run a 54/55lb.

Be wary of any second hand gear as it might not have the upgraded extra digital compass in the head. Therefore the boat will move around more as its move-around radius is a lot bigger than one with the extra digital compass.

Minn Kota was the last to fit the extra compass for spot-lock but now that they have, newer ones are much on a par with the Motor Guide's anchor function.

Do some research on when the MK spotlock function was upgraded.

Be sure to use a real deep cycle battery and charging arrangement though. There's plenty of pretend ones around.
