Well not explode , but explode in meter plus barra. For past decade the lake has been the subject of stocking and other ideas of getting barra into this man made lake. Most of this has been led by dick pasfield a Kununurra local and many others im sure along the way , dick has huge passion for barra and fishing and all his hard work has produced a already great fishery but one that is on the verge of exploding with chunky meter long barra. The lake is currently fishing of the charts with many locals giving other redhot local spots the flick and putting there time into the lake for great results. The growth rate of the barra is of the charts with the first stocking of fish pushing the 900 to meter mark , a couple below

the fish tend to school in big numbers and can be found any where from open water weed beds and snags piles and when located cracking session can be had, below is the creator dick enjoying his spoils catching barra on his fly rod

The other huge draw card to this joint is it family friendly with saltwater crocs not a issue, and the joint is sum the most senic fishing territory in Australia now stocked with hords barra. Great place for family fishing holiday , go dump the miss and kids of at one the many beaches and go snag a barra :)

sum early wet season run of from one the rocky gorge creeks this spot produced a redhot semi run of session .

hope you enjoy few the pics

gday jeff hope your going well , it is turning into a terrific fishery. Just to make clear iv had nothing to do with past stocking just reaping the rewards :catch: Id like to keep it a secret but for it to move forward it has to become more public and more folk fishing it rather than few cunning locals. Its a viable option to Darwin folk for long weekend trip ect

Hey Curt, how's things going in good old kunners town? bl..dy awesome seeing you guys landing good barra from the lake and to think it's only gunna get better.
No more driving long distances on shite roads to catch a fish. Looks like Knx now prime 'doorstep' fishing! Guess I left just at the wrong time... Been pretty good fishing over here too (when wind drops off) the reef is prime. Big variety from GTs to jacks and everything in between. Seems coral trout are the pest species here, plague proportions.
Closed barra season now for us but can see big girls under the local wharf most nights.

ps been fishing the salt much, this build up?

A different kind of 'barra'

Curt, the fish in the pic is the ever elusive barramundi cod. Totally protected in QLD, but rumor has it they are the best table fish in the world!!
Regarding prawns coming out the kitchen tap.... well the truth is no prawns, only crayfish!!!!

Hi there,

The big Barra, I like a lot...
But the no croc and you can take the kids fishing with you without worrying, I like even more!

That look like a dream place.

Have a good day,
Pecheur

Might have to ask Curt about the exploding shorts, maybe he was just really glad to see the fish.
