Hi everyone,
This is a pic of my brothers Sambo he caught down the south coast of W.A. I recall the fish being a solid specimen and its weight being in the vicinity of 40kg +, the Sambo was released but left its mark on my bro, giving him a twisted back....ha SOFT!
Cheers
Buzz

I grew up in Busselton and would frequently fish off the Busselton Jetty. During the months of September through to mid November, squid would appear in plauge proportions and following the squid would be schools of medium to large and even monsterous Samson fish.
I was lucky enough to land a few large Sambo's from the Busselton Jetty, one time I landed two on handlines around the 24kg mark a piece with a broken arm in a cast, I'll post the pics soon.
The fish below weighed in at 24kg, it was a surprise to say the least, especially since it was caught on a handline. I was fishing towards the end of the Jetty, so after the fish was beat I had to haul it up six meters from the water to the top with my cliff gaff. God I miss those days.
