Please post your Round 1 entries on this thread.

The FFF Seadogs 2013 Online Fishing Comp

Image

To register, post up a piccy of your boat with a FFF sticker on it. If no FFF sticker is displayed, entry is $30. The sticker must stay on the boat or car for the duration of the comp. If you are landbased, post a pic of a FFF sticker on your esky or tackle box. Or yer bike!

Deckies are eligible to catch fish for entry in the comp, but any prize will be sent to the owner of the registered boat.

FFF stickers are at Craig's Fishing Warehouse. Or buy one here ... http://www.fishfinderbooks.com

The FFF Seadogs 2013 Online Fishing Comp

RULES

The rules here replace any previously published rules, including those printed in North Australian Fishing & Outdoors Magazine or elsewhere. The rules here have evolved after discussions among FFF users.

While this was primarily an NT comp, and will probably remain so, entries from other states are allowed and the comp may evolve into a State of Origin-type event for barra fishos. No dam fish will be allowed however - only wild fish. No fish permitted from Queensland's Boyne or Kolan Rivers for 2013.

There are 11 one-month-long rounds for 2013. The first round kicks off February 1. The final round ends December 20.

The comp is judged on pictures of fish on brag mats. Each centimetre of fish is awarded a point. Unlimited entries are allowed but only the biggest fish by each entrant from each month will be eligible for points, from the best seven of the competitor's rounds. A local newspaper or printout from within the month of each round must be visible in all brag mat photo entries to verify the date of capture is within the month.

Billfish centimetres from the billfish round will be halved to help equalise with the fish from other rounds.

All fish to be measured from lip to centre of tail (eg inside fork or outer curve). In the case of billfish it will be the lip of the lower jaw to inside tail fork. Fish may have mouths open or closed.

IMPORTANT: Each entry must also include a rough location photo and a short description about the capture (eg Darwin Harbour, or river name) and type of lure or bait etc. Photos must depict live or freshly-caught fish, no necked or obviously dead fish - the judge's decision on this will be final. As there are no stewards on the water to enforce/check that rules are followed, the organiser reserves the right to disallow any entry for any reason, and disqualify any entrant for any reason.

No newspapers or other stuff covering fish in the brag mat photos, lest someone cut their fish in half and extend it.

Fish caught while competing in other competitions are not eligible.

Brag mats or fish measuring stickers must be well-known brands or government products - no home made measuring devices permitted.

Rounds for 2013

Round 1, Feb - The Wet, barra
Round 2, Mar - The Run-off, barra
Round 3, Apr - The Greenwater, barra
Round 4, May - Jewfish Busters
Round 5, June - Mackerel Maulers
Round 6, July - Tuna and Queenfish
Round 7, Aug - Billabong Barra
Round 8, Sep - Saltwater Barra
Round 9, Oct - Billfish
Round 10, Nov - Reefie Madness (eligible fish = goldies, red emperor, coral trout, trickies, cod and groper under 1.2m, jobfish, red bass, chinaman, maori sea perch)
Round 11, Dec - Powertails (c.a.t.fish)

Landbased registrations may only enter fish that are caught landbased. Owners of registered boats may enter fish they catch landbased, provided it was taken on a landbased trip without the boat.

Landbased entries will get an extra 10cm (10 points), but must be verified by a photo at the location with the fish looking alive. Landbased fish photo entries of fish taken from within 300m of boat ramps will not be eligible, except Shady Camp Barrage, NT, and Buffalo Creek rockbar, NT. Landbased fish have to be caught from landbased spots readily accessible by road - no landbased entries taken from shore after getting there in a boat.

Each round lasts one month so everyone can get a day or two off work and fish each round etc, or you can fish the whole month.

In the event of a draw the FFF judge will decide a winner, based on the quality of the photos in the entries.

For a chance to win, it is important that entrants put up a fish each round even if it is smaller than the leading fish in the round, as the captor of the leading fish may not get a good fish in subsequent rounds. There is no size limit on fish, but please photograph undersize fish quickly for a fast release.

To enter you will need a brag mat (no home-made ones allowed!), a camera and a local newspaper dated within the month-long round in which you are fishing (this comp is not officially associated with any newspapers). Pictures of fish must be taken on the brag mat with the newspaper in view.

Registration is free, but you must post a picture of your boat and its FFF sticker to register - post the picture on the separate thread in this forum. Landbased or boat-sharing fishos can register by posting a picture of their tackle box or car with a FFF sticker. Entry without a sticker is $30. The registration thread is here ... http://fishingterritory.com/seadogs-201 ... 31423.html

Billfish will have to be photographed as best the captors can with a brag mat or tape measure, with the newspaper in view, and the FFF judge will estimate size.

Entrants agree to be solely responsible for their own safety, knowledge of the waterways, and to ensure their boats are in good working order. Entrants agree to not to hold the organiser liable in any way.

By posting your first fish up (an entry) you agree to be bound by the rules.

Note: registration pictures must show enough of the boat for it to be recognisable, no closeups.

As there will be no marshalls on the water to assess the conduct of entrants and quality of entries, the organiser reserves the right to exclude any entered fish or entrant for any reason.

If you are going away for a multi-day trip and won't return until after the turn of the month and therefore the end of the round, and only have a newspaper for that month, you are permitted to enter fish until the 5th day of the next round month, but your fish must be entered in the previous round month, not the new round month.

ADDED PRIZES

There will also be some lucky prizes, eg Best Lemon, Lucky Number.

There will be a separate freshwater trout and salmon round for the amusement of the comp organiser - southerners are welcome to enter this round.

Lucky enough to get out today. Fishing was a bit slow, not the best tides, water a bit mucky in places and it was EFFING HOT. So hot that I lip gripped everything at the boat side because if they touched the floor they would have cooked.

Though I'd take my one and only opportunity to take the lead for the year with this rat! Missed a couple of slight upgrades on short strikes. :banghead:

Jacks provided some inspiration to keep casting.

Well boys and girls, I guess im going to test this rule out straight up. Does the points go onto my yearly total as I am the skipper and have the registered boat? :?

Any way, Took the misses out today for a little run about the harbour for shitts and giggles. Due to my studies preventing me getting out for a fish further a field, the harbour for a couple hours break was the only choice. I Had planned to do a little live baiting in and around some rock walls but couldnt be bothered throwing the net in the end as I couldnt find any where that looked easy to get a few good sized baits from as the tide was up a bit already and the mullet pushed right up the back of the drains so instead found a good piece of water and threw a lure or two.

Well low and behold Sindy started screaming after about 5 casts "im on, im on" and as I turned my head expecting a tipical harbour 65cm fish a big silver back came out of the water and line peeled from the reel. After a few moments of caos and some tense moments when the fish jumped showing a barely hooked lure I slid the girl into the net. It measured 94cm and is a PB for Sindy. The best part is that it cost about $5 on fuel and took me 2 minutes to drive home from the boat ramp. Caught on a 17a bomber near emery point.

Ps I have posted early because there is no way that this fish is going to be big enough to win the round and dont want to forget to post it so hopefully this will get some cards on the table. :P
