Small world

Post by Matt Flynn »

AFANT sent this to Buzzdog ... don't think it is secret.

****

Hi Robert,

One of your tagged fish was reported as recaptured recently. Details as follows FYI:

AF23024

Tagged

22.01.2015 – Robert Busby

48cm

Reichardt Creek

Recaptured

29.09.18 – Regis Martin

67cm

Wishart Creek

Kept

****

Two things we learn from this, the fish didn't move far, and Regis likes a fillet

17cm in three years seems a bit slow.

All those 50cm barra from 3 years ago have matured now and the place is full of mid 60 plus fish. I dont think those barra in the harbor really travel too far from what i can tell

Don't know about the NT (not a lot of publicly accessible info around).

Do know about Qld though.

700 km is the longest I know about here.

Tagged in Clermont (way up a Fitzroy tributary) and recaptured a couple of times in its journey down the river over weirs etc. Rec-captured in Gladstone and released again to be finally recaptured in Brisbane.

Story in Suntag files.

700 km.

Here's one not re-caught but resounded after a 400 km round trip.

And that's only 12 months travel.

thanks ronje and ninjafish interesting read and 700kms is a pretty good distance for a barra considering some are re-caught in the exact same area.

Them researchers have a sweet job at times all for science
