Hit Lee Point over easter a few times for a fish.
Not much luck Sat or Sun with only a ray and shark to show for my effort.
Tonnes of bait around and was getting some good sized whiting in the net.
Tide was so high there was no beach left.
Went back on Wed morn at first light to fish the incoming tide.
Took down my old beach rod with alvey reel for something different.
Water looked good with plenty of fish busting up near the reef.
Tried for ages to get some liveys but were few and far between.
managed a lone mullet and sent it out on the beach rod.
couple of minutes later it went of and a nice sized golden trev hits the beach.
spent a while chasing more bait and eventualy got some small whiting and mullet.
Next bait out and a small queenie is caught.
tried flicking some small jigs around at the fish busting up but got nothing on them.
At the top of the tide I was thinking of going home when the beach rod gets hit again.
Nice sized fish jumping around and putting up a hell of a fight.
This fish just didnt want to come in and i thought it was a huge salmon.
I was stoked to finally land it and it was a big Giant Herring.
Only the second I have ever caught.
What a fight on an old rod and reel.
Next bait out and another golden trev is landed.
After that with the tide dropping fast it went quiet so decided to quit.
Love using the old alvey it gets intresting with no drag when something takes line.
Must get it out more.
