Skinnies , Lee point 4/12

Post by jeffish »

I went down to Lee Pt yesterday for Zip , but this morning was much better conditions
so I had another crack . As I came over sand dune to the beach my first sight was a big
bust up just off shore outside casting distance (as per normal) . I tossed a few slugs at them
but not a touch. So I gave the rocks to the right a go and on my second cast I was on to a
good fish ,well I thought it was but ended up a runt just foul hooked . Plenty of surface action
and was getting hits almost every cast but the only ones staying connected were very tiny.
I had some good battles with bigger models but with only light gear they smoked me .

Still it was a great session with a dozen or so landed and released . I kept 2 around 40ish
for some lunch time Nummis . Easy fishing 5 minutes from home :catch:

Good one Jeff - looks like I picked the wrong morning. I ended up hooking a 50cm one Sat. morning on the corner there just as you were leaving - thought it was a bigger one as it was running and taking line - but turned out it was foul hooked as well just next to the bottom fin - thought he was unlucky, so let him go.

Yeah Steve much flatter this morning plenty of bait and not another fisho in sight.
The big girls were there and live baits would have had a better result for sure.

They must've all been up there. I had no luck at east point. How do you think they'd like stickbaits?

Nomad they'll only do that when I start pulling the goldies in Land base

I did get a coral trout off the rocks a few weeks ago and that's a first for me.

Finatic ,, It works well in Nummus . I've used just about all types and the only one I don't like is
Jewie.

Hey guys noting you said the rocks were a go, as you come over the sand dune there is a small tidal creek approximately 1 km down to the left, has anyone tried to fish this? Does it produce?

TIA

Hi Brent, Sandfly (some call it Sandy) Creek is a marine desert. You might get the occasional salmon there and quite a few whiting but no barra or pelagics. Better to go around the other way and fish the sand bar that forms the mouth of Buff Creek.

Cheers

Yeah Brent as Swoffa says its barron fish wish , but good to get mullet at the mouth then go round to buff or take them back up to the ally at Lee point , sometimes big GTs in there so don't fish to light.
But its best during the dry I reckon .
