Has anyone fished at the Dudley Point lookout cliff and had success on good fish? I myself have had decent success as of late, catching a 45cm blue salmon and a 66cm spanish mackerel in the space of a week. Just interested to know how others are going and what techniques they use.

Well done bro! Keep fishing hard and you will be a land based guru in the true tradition of Darwin kids of old. I know a few blokes that grew up here doing the same thing and they are great fishermen now. Sure beats the internet!

Onya Young Gun  :applause: . It can be a great spot during the Dry season and I have caught a few decent Macks and Skinnies there . If the wind is in your favor try floating a live bait out under a balloon .

Good luck you've done better than me , my last 3 land based trips have been 0,0,0 :(

My dad's not a fisherman unfortunately, so will have to ask my mate who can use a castnet to come. Thanks!

Great work YG, that's a good landbased catch. Looks like you are the Dudley Point expert this year.

Great catches mate! You've done well to land a mac and a salmon, they can both put up a fight.
Check the rules regarding fishing at the East Point Aquatic Reserve:
https://nt.gov.au/marine/recreational-f ... -in-darwin
No fish under 30cm (i.e. bait fish) can be taken and from what I can tell you can't use cast nets there, it's rod/reel or handline only.
Agree with others though, live bait is the key.
Get your mate to catch some in his net for you elsewhere & bring them along.

Cheers

YG, I bet with all the talc stone around that point you would find milk fish there later in the in dry season and build up months. Keep your eye out for schools of fish tailing around on the surface in calm conditions (usually feeding on an outgoing tide) that pay no attention to your lures, that will be milk fish.

Nice one mate. Lots of big macks around, up size your lures and you'll be surprised at what's hanging around.
