Usually fires when the river comes up after first heavy rains. This time of year you would be better off down at Port Roper.

hey matt when you say it fires up with the first heavy rains do you mean the crossing does or the river in general ?

The crossing fires up first
The best floodplain creeks are right down around Blackfella Creek and they need a lot of rain to get them going.
Port Roper however can fire up now, the trick is picking small tides for clear water as the Roper tides are super weird.

You'll need a boat at Port Roper. You fish the tidal creek mouths near the Roper mouth, on the north bank. They aren't feeder creeks outside of the Wet, just your usual tidal creeks.

Sorry I can't be more help with the landbased side. Probably better off around the harbour for LB build-up barra. Dundee rocks produce some big baz.
