any suggestions?

You mean landbased spots?
Bit hard with kids and crocs, you would have to watch them like a hawk. Suburban Darwin has a few spots but regional areas more problematic.

What Matt said. Elizabeth Jetty might be the best option (except for the midges). Could try Channel Island, Mandorah, Dundee and Gunn Beach. Maybe Manton and Lake Bennett too.

Sand whiting off cas beach is always fun for the kids
Also - burly with bread off fannybay rocks at high tide for mullet, gar fish and the odd milk fish.

Thanks for the suggestions all. We have done all the usual spots - Elizabeth River, Channel Island, East Point
Thinking of Gunn Point Beach. However I have never been there before.
With a morning high tide, has anyone got any tips for the area?
will be taking a throw net to hopefully put some live baits out while the kids fish with squid/prawns

Gunn pt beach or mandorah is pretty safe til the box jellyfish come through later in the year..
6m plus high running in or the start of the runout in that area is the go.
The highs that coincide with crack of dawn or sunset fish better than midday. Sometimes you can flick lures but unweighted baits or putting a tiny sinker on the livies will be easier.??There's a fair few creeks to try around the mouths of especially if you have a decent 4wd.
Hope this helps u get onto em.. .
Dont be scared to throw out a really big live mullet on a 100lb handline if you're interested in a battle....

Thanks Goldfish. will definitely try and get some mullet and see what happens.
Do you go all the way down to the end of gunn point road or turn left after the leaders creek turn off?
Spot X or keep going down O?

Spot X. You can drive north up the beach to the creek up the top. Be warned, there are at least a dozen wrecks out there from people who got bogged in the mud while playing chicken with the tide.

Thanks for the info fellas!
Got the kids up early and left home about 6am hoping to catch the last of the incoming tide.
Found the spot easily enough and got there just on sunrise. Wow what a beautiful area!
First thing we noticed though was the 20 or so camper vans parked up just above the beach!
Grabbed the rods and headed for the mouth of the creek. Scanned the water for some mullet but nothing to be seen.
So set the rods up with prawn and squid baits and sat back and waited and waited and waited. Nope nothing, not a single touch.
Kids were getting restless so took them for a walk up the beach in search for some live bait. Again nothing!
By this time the tide was fully in and we still hadn't had a single touch.
After a couple of hours I decided to call it a day and take the little ones to swimming instead.
Will definitely be back to suss the place out properly (without kids in tow). Looks very fishy and I'm sure its just a matter of working out the best time/tide to fish it.
BTW - Gunn point road was great!
