Bycatch from the MDF comp.

Post by goldfish »

So once more the hunt for the elusive MIllion Dollar Fish was on.
This time it had me headed down to middle arm ramp to check for myself the new carpark mods. .... BIG IMPROVEMENT.

well done fellas :applause:

but watch out for a bit of a washout on the Left on the way in :o

I arrived and readied the gear, slipped the reef boots on, and with a short trek through the mangroves was soon on the exposed rockbar casting into any likely spots. I was working the lure slowly past a few good sized ledges in a metre of water. . Suddenly a decent flash and the fish instantly had the hook set right into the corner of the jaw. It went mental and was airborne several times. A short battle was easily accomplished with the 65lb spin setup and it was up on the bank after a quick brutal tussle that would have made lesser gear useless aroud the razor sharp oysters. Quickly I de hooked it and following a pic I released it.

While it wasn't a barra the thrill of the speed of my line being ripped from the spool and the air it got (2m easily ) was still a fair bit of fun.

Maybe next time it'll be on ....
