Hi guys, anyone fish these lakes still? Im trying to find somewhere close to home for the kids to catch their first barra. Size isn't a big deal, just want to spike their interests in fishing and share the experience of catching a barra on a lure.

Hey Greenmachine, maybe try Barramundi adventures Darwin. It's fishing in a heavily stocked dam for basically tame fish but they are more or less guaranteed to catch a decent fish on a lure which should get the interest going enough to start taking them on trips to places where they may miss out. Nothing turns kids of fishing quicker than not catching anything. Have a look at :

Tales of the Tinny had a few fellas on before Christmas that were catching a few. Biggest was 76 from memory. You could checkout the podcast for any info.

The lakes have gone a bit quiet over the last 6 months or so, if you do fish it, do so at night with weedless river 2 sea frogs but trim the tassles back for a better hook up rate, it really is hard work tho, if you fish it during the day then do it just on a rain event or just after.
My best out of lake 9(my local) was 81cm that smashed a frog at about 11:30pm during a really cold spell back in 2016. I found i have caught more fish there in the dry than any other time of year.Maybe find out when the fisheries are doing there next release, then take the kids a couple of months later and they will have a ball on the little fellas.
