An update on the Territory Labor Government’s $50 million investment in fishing infrastructure ...

“A wireless closed circuit television (CCTV) system is now fully operational at Dinah Beach boat ramp carpark, increasing security for boat ramp users," Fisheries Minister Ken Vowles said.

“The new CCTV system – designed and installed by local Territory company, Security and Technology Services (STS) – covers the boat ramp and carpark to increase security at the popular fishing spot by streaming directly into the Northern Territory Government Police monitoring system.

“Also at Dinah Beach boat ramp, a tender has now been awarded to construct a block of three unisex, semi-automated toilets in the carpark. Construction is expected to be completed by November.

“At Middle Arm car park, a tender has been let for upgrades to the boat-ramp car park to provide 25 vehicle and trailer parking bays, creating a more enjoyable fishing experience for local boat ramp users.

“We know the existing trailer boat parking area is in need of an upgrade and we have listened and taken action - this is great news for Middle Arm boat ramp users.

“And, last but not least, I’m excited to announce a tender for a scoping study to design artificial reefs and fish attraction devices (FADs) to boost the Territory’s recreational fishing experiences.”

Projects for the $50 million infrastructure investment have been prioritised in consultation with recreational fishers to ensure this job-creating infrastructure will have a big impact on local and interstate anglers fishing in the Territory.

Another lane on the other side of the pontoon would be better.
