I'd heard rumours this was going on in the NT, whole jewies chucked overboard once bladders are removed.

If so, surprised there are any jewies left.

I seriously dislike the Chinese....

Well mate I'm of chinese descent and I can guarantee you nothing goes to waste with any fish I take home.
Fish get filleted and remains get used in soups. Or whole fish gets cooked up. I know of a lot of "chinese" fishermen up here and not one of them would waste fish like that!

I got grilled big time by a mate of Asian background. He told me that his parents would have killed for the jewie bladder that I simply discarded along with the rest of the jewie frame.

I think Westerners are just as bad (and worse in some cases) when it comes to wasting food.

Yes, no point blaming anyone re waste, except those few who think eating swim bladders will give them more mojo, or whatever it is they believe is worth the big bucks.

As I have mentioned on here, I saw an old ethnic bloke taking jewie frames from the bins at Outer Harbour SA years ago, which I guess made the Aussie fishos there the wasters ...

I'd pay a few bucks to NOT have to eat a swim bladder.

Had fish bladder a few times in Malaysia and it's nice. The deep fry it from dry and is not that hard to eat. Quiet nice actually

Apparently it tastes like pork crackle.

I tried it once on the advise of a good mate.
Fish pork crackle sort of describes it........... but its worse than in sounds!

I had a Pro fisho trying to buy them of me when the bag limit on jew was 7 per person .
Offered me $5ea , But that would be illegal , hey
