When I first moved up, I thought it must be illegal to use an indicator. :D
They do it just to keep you on your toes. Thank christ I dont ride a motorbike anymore. deadmeat

We've just been teaching a couple of our children to drive. Darwin is full of bad examples. :banghead:
I could drive around with them and point out a few examples every time. Not indicating, coming off round abouts with the wrong indicator on, going through red lights, tail gating, speeding through school zones and carparks, the list is endless.

One thing in Darwin, I never assume the intersection is clear, green light or not. The round about at Bridge Toyota is a an accident waiting to happen. People get frustrated and just pull out infront of people there.

Its not until someone gets hurt do these half wits sometimes wake up. :fubird: The problem is its not normally them that get hurt its some kid or bystander doing the right thing.

i've not long started a new job which is heavily involved with traffic works and it is UNBELIEVABLE how bad/impatient/incompetant some people are behind a wheel. apparently road signs are optional- especially around roadworks!
i knew there were bad drivers out there but i really had no idea!

I like the roadworks 40kph signs at the Edith River Bridge approach
About 3klm of 40 k's before the bridge and for those who get frustrated with that the cops have a caravan and radar set up at the end of it
Talk about a revenue spin, they'll make enough from that to rebuild the bridges LOL

I used to think that Darwin drivers were the worst in the country, but then whenever I go to Brisbane or anywhere in QLD I'm reminded there are in fact even worse!!

The bl..dy worst drivers are those little bugers with poop hanging from their rear vision mirror, pardon the pun "But they drive ya MAD".

I THINK they get em the same place the bus drivers do !!Ever since they put that sticker on the rear of the bus,s... that for sum reason only known to bus drivers that it,s OK to pull out in front of a vehical when you pull out of a bus stop !!!!. strange thing is that when it first came out the sticker said BY LAW YOU MUST GIVE WAY TO A BUS PULLING OUT 70KMS OR UNDER ??? The by law part is no longer on the rear of the bus,s, ?? And who hasnt had one of them pull out in front of you ???

Whichever way you go, buses have right of way. Theres nothing wrong with that, otherwise they would be forever stuck at their bus stops.

Get over it!

even though they have right of way, indicating your intentions as they pull out seems to be the way i've seen them do it.. doesn't give approaching traffic much hope of giving way!

They brought that law in for major centres like Sydney where the poor drivers would be stuck in the stop for 10 minutes or more.
As others have said, you have to give way, IT’S THE LAW
once the indicator is on, they have right of way.
Watch the traffic not just the road
If you bang into them (even if they didnt have the blinker on, you have to prove it) you will wear it

I have been driving round Sydney at the moment and find the drivers the same as Darwin or Brisbane. 1/3 roughly seem impatient or on a mission, 1/3 are slow as driving miss daisy and the last lot are cruising and let you into a gap.

I'm sure some of the women driving around Darwin are on a mission to p..s off as many people as they can in a morning,or at least it seems that way sometimes
and some of the cowboy truck drivers around that take up both lanes with trucks at the lights because his truck can do half a kilometer an hour faster than the one along side him and he's going to prove it (dickheads)

Gee that is funny because when I was staying there the drivers that use to seem to cause me the most grief had VIC number plates
