As I couldn't catch a fish to save my life lately, I'm going to stick to something I can do....sink stuff!!

here's the next hull, this mission if you choose to accept it is…………

1. quick bit of demolition(always fun with a sledge in one hand and a rum can in the other…alla 2Rods)

2. snake check
3. plug 1 small hole
4. find a tow boat
5. fit tow point

Matt and I have the crane and launch location organised..ish. This one will probably have to go in at East arm port. Could take 3 hours to tow to Lee Point.

I have found out about a 32' Steel Yacht hull that is down at MKT airstrip at noonamah. It was owned by a guy from work. He pulled it out of the water due to rust, it was not worth repairing. He said it should be fine to float it. Will have to go down there and check it out. Also have to ask the new owner.

Cheers

The BarraBeast Scuttling Inc. inspected the hull today. 2rods was hired as a High Access Consultant(he brought the ladder!)

The great news is that it's got no engines or fuel tanks. The hull is sound and there's no drive shaft which we'll use the shaft casing help sink it.

There's about 2-3 hours or so of work to remove the rotten wood from inside. It's all rotten and loose so minimal sledging will be required. :( it'll just be a matter of unload it safely to the ground and then get it dumped.

There's about 2 feet of water inside so it's obviously water tight. The towing point could be better but the bollard on the bow will have to do.

It's an absolute perfect poop-box to sink. I've arranged the harbor master and shorelands to go and inpect and give us the green light. I reckon we could get the working bee done within the next 2 weeks or so and then just keep and eye on the monsoon and harbour conditions.

It really requires a wharf launch so we are attempting to get permission from the East Arm Port. But I may have to call Perkins to see if we can use their slip.

cheers for all who have offered their help, will let you know when the working bee is on.

ps
no sign of snakes(yet!!).

thanks Kieth.

I was thinking about drilling a hole each side of the bow and running a rope or cable through.

2 tow points are the go, if the bollard fails then were driftin free which would be a bad thing in this case. :banghead:
