Personal Best Powertail

I remember the scene well - Beasty put me onto the fish up the ever reliable Wilshire Creek No 3 at low tide.

Careful lure selection allowed me to get UNDER the barramundi and threadfin and strike gold.

This cougar pulled like a horse - classic powertail all the way to the boat.

The air turned blue with descriptive adjectives when we saw colour and realised what we had.

Fishing is like a box of chocolates - you never know what you are going to get

that is a prime powertail specimen Matt

I have been talking to the old bloke jimmy smithson who used to be a pro netter out the adelaide before they stopped them, and he said they used to get powertails upwards of 60 pounds out there

man...imagine getting onto a powertail of that size...it would be like landing a parmit on a 4wt fly rod.

Now this is a PT it may even be one of the elusive Odin's Eeltails, that would need to be confirmed by someone with a great deal more ichthyological (sp) experience then I.
I can't claim this capture myself, but just wait till the Dry when Yellow Waters cops a flogging!

Saw a monster powertail when staying at the Hilton Arcadia resort in Phuket. They have a lake on the grounds and we spent a few afternoons watching a massive powertail chasing the coi carp around from the second floor over a few beers. It would be as big as the one in the photo above and terrorised the whole lake smashing carp whenever it got the urge. It would be hard to stop even on Marlin Gear absolutely huge fish.

A mate visiting from melb caught this last week at rapid creek it wasn't his biggest for that day, but we took a photo of this one as it was strange in color to all the others he caught.
