I've got a "staffer" from August 20 - this means I can do a lot of things that I haven't been doing.

This includes an NTMAG subscription service, and a lot more field work

Can't complain. Seems to have been well received. Still have to get a few more advertisers on board to make it worthwhile - it's a competitive market.

But readers seem happy - always keen for more feedback though

Yes, there's no secret their KK - she (my wife) has left her own job to do it and will probably do a better job designing and typesetting the mag than me. The question is, if it doesn't work out, who sacks who?

Yes, but he swears it's true regarding the barra. Gotta wonder if he accidentally left a magnifying glass inside his goggles. Maybe "barrazilla" has been eating all those chips thrown in from the eatery. And some t-bones

As for the tuna, I have seen them next to the wharf on two occasions, once on the inside near the pontoon.

Big jewies get caught there too.

And of course it holds the biggest batfish anywhere in Darwin - all of them no doubt have cholesterol-clogged arteries. :P

Well finally got shore time to go up and buy a few replacement lures from george ended up talking for several minutes as we know georgie doesnt mind a chat  . Finally got my hands on the new mag, and once again another fine job on it Matt, ofcourse you cant take all the credit with some top entry from fellow FFF's. Especially enjoyed Jeremy 'Harmsey' Harmsworth  report on the harbour :applause: , i believe this year's build up is gonna be one of the best there with the chance of a meter or two(someones gonna have to snatch that FFF reward  ).
Havent been to the East yet and after reading KK's spill on it, it's on the priority list when i swing off, great work on the article KK :applause: .
Again, fine stuff on another well published mag Matt  , cant wait for the next issue now

Matt I talked to a mate of mine who use to be a barra netter at the mouth of the Finniss river 40-50 years ago and he told me his biggest ever barra went the ton......yep 100pounds

So there is a chance that there are a few big girls out there still :catch:

For sure 2rods, they supposedly reach 120 pounds but of course we rarely see anything even half that. Even the stocked dam fish haven't nudged that.

Biggest I have seen was a very old (antique) black and white photo of two that came out of Queensland's Fitzroy River - they were huge.

If there are megabarra in the harbour the wharf would be the logical place - tonnes of bait, structure, deep water - and almost impossible to land them from around the pylons.

Big barra are seen on the Bottlewasher off Lee Point by divers - the big ones seem to like coastal reefs, unlike the little ones. I suppose they are a bit like old jacks, although you won't pull a barra at Flat Top Bank etc
