Beluga's - what have they done for us lately?

A DROWNING diver has a beluga whale to thank for helping to save her life after her legs were paralysed by cramps.

Yang Yun was taking part in a free-diving contest at Polar Land in Harbin, north-east China, in which participants were required to sink seven metres to the bottom of a pool and stay there for as long as possible without the aid of breathing equipment.

Ms Yun, 26, thought she was going to die amid the beluga whales she shared the arctic pool with, after struggling to move her legs while trying to kick her way to the surface.

"I began to choke and sank even lower and I thought that was it for me - I was dead,” she told The Sun.

“Until I felt this incredible force under me driving me to the surface."

That “incredible force” was Mila, a beluga whale which had noticed her distress and clamped its jaws around her leg.

Using her sensitive nose, Mila drove Ms Yun carefully to the surface, to the amazement of onlookers and an underwater photographer who captured the entire incident on film.

"Mila noticed the problem before we did,” an organiser told The Sun.

"She's a sensitive animal who works closely with humans and I think this girl owes her her life."

Belugas....what have they done for us lately?
Nothin. Useless piles of blubber. They might be useful to hold down a pile of loose newspaper sheets. Or if you are really cold you could slaughter one and crawl into its belly. But thats about it.

Join my Facebook Group "Belugas: Scourge of the Ocean. Act now or our children will have to look at them too!"

I believe we can rid ourselves of this unsightly monstrosity by the end of the year.

According to the seaworld website, Beluga whales are opportunistic feeders. They prey on about 100 different kinds of primarily bottom-dwelling animals. They eat octopus; squid; crabs; snails; sandworms; and fishes such as capelin, cod, herring, smelt, and flounder.

I reckon it thought she was a bottom dweller and she was floundering

sounds like they belong to the same group of whales the japs are trying to get rid off. 8-)
they are responsible for lowering the world fish stocks by eating all the fish :hunting:
Once this scourge is gone hopfully we will see more fish like the endangered flounder (when did you last see one of these around darwin)
:bonk:

hearin you John. Waiting for the day I can pull a nice brace of flounder or plaice from the shady camp barrage........bl..dy belugas.....

After they pulled the lass from the ocean they took her into the pub and laid her out on a table with her head on its side. after a few minutes she coughed up a fish. A local lad stared at the strange scene for a moment before asking.....

......"Whats a nice plaice like you doing in a girl like this?"

sorry
