Landed 3 sails yesterday and around 15 in the last week. Lost pleny too. Not massive but plenty of fun for the clients. Weather has been awesome. Flat as a tack today.

Oversized Garfish, over-rated as well. Long Lost around the Witches Nose seems to be the place where their at.

You might feel they are over-rated but the clients love it. See the smile on Deans face. As we know Dundee Hombre, with the right boat you can catch Sailfish and barramundi in the same day.

Any fish that puts a grin on an Anglers dial is a good un.

Over rated to those who don't try and specifically target them !
Been out caught one once yeah over rated
There's the occasional bigger one around !
I'd love to know where they are breeding it can't be to far of our cost line with the size of some of these real small ones! As they are a really quick growing fish I seen on a documentary from memory !

what area anglers choice?

It is interesting about the breeding area theory, as sailfish grow extremely quickly. Some tiny ones have been caught off Dundee, and tiny blacks too. There may be a spawning area nearby, it's either that or they are drifting in on a current.

If the spawning area is nearby, you would assume this means big sails are there, unless it's a new midget variety, the Dundee Oh Gee

I could be wrong here but it seems to me to be a big increase in sail activity on the years of minimal rainfall or late rainfall. I wounder if a current is more likely to be forced further north from Wa way early in the year due to a lessoned fresh water influence.

Or perhaps the currents that effect the rainfall in the first place carry these currents, fish or bait closer to Dundee.

I did a bit of research on the water currents and Dundee does appear to be a place where the currents from around bathurst island, the clarence chanel and the bonapart gulf all meet. I think this is why that area is so rich in fishing oppertunities and rubbly sponge reefs. Plus all the nutrients flushed from the Finniss and Daly rivers gathering in the eddie that is formed by the sheering of all of the current convergants.

Just wish I could find some more data on past water temps and currents from previous years to put a better picture together.

That's what I was leaning towards !!;)
Why would a current line bring them right in close around fog bay ?? But so so prevalent in another areas along our coast line ?
That fish no good posted a while back would only be a few months old wouldn't it ?? Is was like 600mm long !
