Bait rigging class

A few of us have been throwing around the idea of a bait rigging class for those of us who have not been shown the art of rigging skip baits and swimming baits for chasing sails and the like.

One of our more keen bill fisherman (Lobster) has offered to show us how it is done

So what I am looking to organise with him is to get a small number of interested people together with all the stuff they need and we can learn how to do it properly. Due to the type of stuff we will be shown Lobster has suggested that we only have 5-6 people at a time...

We can run it at a central location or I am happy to use the filleting table at my place  You would need to get the correct bait and bits and pieces and Lobster will supply the know how  He will also post up a list of what you need to buy/supply

I haven't thought about a date just yet but I am thinking about trying to get it done in a few weeks time (when it suits Lobster) so if you are keen to learn how its done and can commit to a set date please reply to this post.....FIRST in first served

Righto,

Had a chat to 2rods the otehr day and whilst we are yet to come up with a definate time the clinic will occur at 2rods place. I think we will be looking at one evening after work. To help people out I havea list of things you willneed to bring to the clinic:

1. 10m of 150lb leader
2. 1 X pkt oval crimps for 150lb leader
3. 2 X #3 or #4 ball sinkers
4. 6 X small pink octopus skirts (about 4" long)
5. 6 X Garfish (will need to be thawed before rigging)
5. 1 X Mullet (about 30cm long)
6. 1 X 14/0 non offset circle hook

My preference for hook is the Gamakatsu SL12S Bluewater Fly Hook in 8/0 or 10/0. If you find some you will need 8 of them. Alternatively I will have some available for minimal cost. You can also use any hook that you desire. You will need a fine guage chemically sharpened hook in that 8/0 - 10/0 size.

I will also bring a roll of 80lb dacron as well. If you have some or can get it by all means bring it as we will look at some wind on leaders and also use it for stictching up the mullet skip baits.

Also bring the usual rigging gear such as cutters, crimping pliers (if you have them), wire etc.

As 2rods said about 6 will be a good number as we can also run anothery if there is sufficient interest.

If you have any preferences for time please reply and we will work out the best time.

Cheers

Lobster
