Didn't know what category this would come under, so I though I'd "ask Chloe".
I did land a "KIWI this morning in Darwin Harbor. No photo's though. Had I been in the sun too long?
Took the kids out fishing, got a bit rough over Mandorah side so came accross to Emery Point, out of the wind.
Along came the floating pontoon , you know the one, looks like a small house boat, roof, 2 under powered motors, you rent them and they come with BBQ and esky.
Well there was a dozen or so people on this one, they had anchored up and fishing, tide was running out at great knots.
They were catching some fish, one guy on the roof got his camera out to take a photo off the fish being caught, when his rod shot of the roof, into the water.
Well he jumped in after it, from the roof, when he surfaced, he had the rod in his hand and was about 50m from the pontoon. All his friends were laughing at him , not realising he was getting further away.
Someone threw out the life ring, it had about 5 meters of rope on it, and they were yelling at him to swim for it. He was 100m away by this time.
No-one was making any effort to "up anchor" and go after him.
So we up anchor and go after him, he was about 300m from the pontoon when we caught up with him, still holding on to his rod.
He was a "KIWI", he was as happy to see me, as my dog is happy to see me when I grab the dog lead.
I recon if this guy had a tail he would have been wagging it.
Any way, pulled him in the boat with fishing rod in hand. He said:- "wasn't going to looose me bait caster bro", it's brand new, cost $300. "Nearly loost my hat also".
Dropped him off to the pontoon, thanks all round .
"Kiwi" landed in Darwin Harbor, still attached to the rod?

I never understood fishing, does the bait hold the rod or someone else?

Good on you Scamper. Karma will look after you for that effort. Just don't know if it'll be good or bad
