There once was a barra comp like no other, a unique freshwater gamefishing tournament that was recognised not only in Australia but internationaly by all gamefishers. Invitation to fish in this tournament was held in high regard and keenly sought. Many fine anglers had pitted their skills against the mighty Barramundi using tackle that conformed to the International Gamefishing Association for freshwater gamefishing.
Anglers who achieved podium placings earned the acolades of their peers and deserved the right for their names to be engraved on the most prestigious perpetual trophys. The tournament earned a 5 star rating for it's approach to fish and habitat conservation, the anglers could be trusted to abide by the honesty system of catch and release. Participants would share the water with non-participants without aggression or arrogance.
The next lot of names engraved on the trophys will not carry these traditions and will dilute the prestige of previous winners as the goal posts have moved far from their origins. R.I.P
