Will 2018 be a cracker fishing year in the NT?

Post by Matt Flynn »

The rain is falling, the Daly is flooded, and Kakadu well soaked.

Will it be a cracker fishing year in the NT?

Yep last year's barra will be keepers by now. The rivers around Darwin (Finniss, Mary, South, Daly) have a bunch of water coming down. Giddy up!

Any year we've got the ability to fish after the last one is a great year.

And each year the yarns get bigger and better, just as the fish we caught the year before :)

It will be good, but a decent rain in 2019 and then a good one in 2020 will be the cracker. Good seasons need to stack up over a few years and 2013 through 2016 was lacking.

The MDF tag returns are interesting. Very high rate of return. Low fish stocks?

Of course, there is a lot of effort out there for MDF ...

Voted yes

But next year will be better like 2012 was better after the big wet early 2010 and 2008 was better after cyclone Monica early 2006

Always found two years after a big wet and have notes of fish caught to back up. Number are good after a wet but size is better 2 years after
