Ive been rethinking the whole deal and some of the comments have made me think they should ditch the 1/2 baked plans they have put up.
BUT we know they wont take any notice of us and go ahead and build it anyway

I'm with you Mark, I like the idea of a better ramp but I don't think this design will be better or safer than the current arrangement.

no I've been using it for ten years and its a pain in the arse but my mates from south love the whole adventure of it. pavement and roads do save your trailers but you loose a sense of being in the wild. mind you every time I go past the mouth 40 boats kind of ruins it. but for me I like to go to shady with southerners and give em something they don't get there

It's a case of be careful of what you wish for.
The government was lobbied by fishing groups for a flash new ramp somewhere down stream into deeper water to allow a broader time frame for access.
The price for that flash new ramp was many more millions of dollars than could be justified for such a seasonally used and high maintenance project.
The fishing groups where told that the flash new ramp would not be built, they were told that money would be spent on the existing access point, the fishing groups accepted the offer and told government to proceed.
Perhaps the fishing groups should have backed out and asked for the money to be diverted to the legacy ramp at Dundee?
It is not too late to change, contact your fishing group representatives speak your piece.

Here in lie's the problem with lobby groups.

Like a dog begging for scraps at the table. Any morsel is offered they snavel it up.
I guess it is quite easy to accept handouts even though I think even AFANT will acknowledge it is a less than ideal solution.

But I thought the wharf was sold to finance the downstream Shady ramp?

maybe they should sell it to the Chinese.
They will build downstream access no doubt. Might be along way downstream after they dam it.

I reckon its better than nothing - and theres next to no chance of them funding a downstream - all tide ramp. The issue I can see are the channel silting up due to most of the water going over the second barrage, I think that they need to look at getting more of the water going over the main barrage like it used to if they are going to drop a couple of million on a boat ramp.

I think the days of shady being "Wilderness" are long gone. Bynoe is wilder than shady these days.

Take it while its on offer . Can't be that bad a plan and if it is
they'll just have to fix it .

The Government cant make it high tide all day every Day or in flood, and they are not going to dredge/deepen the river below the Barrage,
So what is the point of making the existing dirt ramp concrete? If it was a proper wet it would all be underwater and you would launch your boat in the car park. If you can get across the Adelaide river floodplain
All concrete is going to do is scratch the poop out of your boat and increase the height of the tide required to launch your boat.

Spend the money on ramp down stream or put it towards better Dundee Ramp.

Let's not forget that this is now the third election where this and other boat ramps are on offer. They say haha, we should say bye bye, but both are the same. Too little too late me thinks.

No, theres no benefits why change car park when you will loose space, ramp still will be congested with limited room, no thought about what it may do to river either it will be changing water flow, put money towards other ramps!
