4 X 4 Prices
Do your research closely and be prepared to work hard to get what you want.
All standard range prices available on current models, all 4 x 4, 4 door, Utes with Diesel engines
Mitsubishi Triton GLX MN Manual $40,990 Auto $42,990
Ford Ranger XL PX Manual $43,890 Auto $44,890
Mazda BT-50 XT Manual $44,240 Auto $46,240
Hilux SR KUN26R Manual $42,490 Auto $44,490
Hilux Workmate KUN26R Manual $38,990 Auto $40,990 this model has no carpet and less electrics, manual windows and key entry. Same everyting else.
Add $10-16k for extras on all of the above for Bullbar, Spotties, Wide rims and tyres, lift kit and beefed up suspension, side steps, ute canopy.
Next question is which is the easiest to service and find parts and has the best resale value?
Easy answer really and it aint the Triton..........

Re: 4 X 4 Prices
If you are in a "life and death" situation offroad, I know which car I'd rely on to get home.
Lots of people don't care about the re-sale value when they buy a car or a boat. I sold my 24 year old Hilux (1990) the other week for more than I paid for it 3 years ago. Was a nice little buffer for the new Toyota.

That new hilux is looking like the ranger....
Only problem i have with toyota (other than the interior cheapness feel) is dealing with bridge autos..
I took my toyota there and they couldnt work out a particular problem, i ended up researching it online and fixed it myself.
I dont rate them very highly for skill or service..

Your triton price is about 10k more then is should be. Can get them for $32 k and then there is a 2 k cash back. Most dealers have them for $30k, if you shop around you can get them for around $28.

Yeah, i only took it there as a once off thing.
Im going to get another new car in coming months, whatever the brand i wont be buying in Darwin.
Ive been doing some calls around Australia...one dealer in Ringwood, Melbourne has offered thousands off new price, airfares, accomodation and fuel to drive it back... Might tie it in with a roadtrip/holiday.
A mate of mine who just purchased a FJ Cruiser saved $3000 by buying from Katherine instead of Darwin.
Just crazy here.

Katherine Toyota is cheaper for servicing too, buying cars down south and driving back up is the way to go.
Bridge autos will tell you that you have to come back for servicing but this isn't true, most workshops are accredited for new cars

Yeah, bridge are shockas for telling people that, its a real bullying mentality... They tried telling my mother that when she got her toyota... She rang 'toyota australia' to clarify/complain and they sent her a huge apology letter and a set of free car seat covers!

Re: 4 X 4 Prices
Prices Mickk are for the models that match the Hilux SR all 4 dr 4 x 4 utes; in terms of features and accessories. Diesel I might add and not petrol
The only base line poverty pack info I gave was on the Workmate
Just to show that i am not biased Motoring.com did a bit of a test http://www.motoring.com.au/reviews/2011 ... ison-27964
They quoted higher prices on their test 4 x 4s

Re: 4 X 4 Prices
Most are built there since the tsunami in Japan
Also, dont discount the auctions. A mate bought a 2yo hilux with all the bells and whistles incl winch, bar, canopy, roller drawers and a fridge set up for just over $30k.

The hilux factory in Thailand has absolutely nothing to do with the tsunami in japan??
It's was producing years before that happened and with the long term plan to produce all Australian models.
But yeah, the auctions can be great places to score a deal... If you can beat the friggin car yard dealers!

Was so close to buying a new sr5 lux while the 1 % comparison rate is on. Decided my 08 sr5 still has plenty of life left. Toyota all the way.
