................. I'm confused Why the EXTREME is labelled a wet Boat I dont find it any wetter than any other tinny in the same class in fact i think it rides a whole lot better than most boats and i don't think it's that wet, But I prefer The Predator i think they are top's they are my first choice for ride
people get a 5-6mtr boat and think they are in a 50 foot Riviera or something and arn't going to get wet sometimes ????
Just my 2 bob's worth

Very interesting to hear that Slapper. Further strengthens my decision to go for the GS Marine over the Barcrusher.

Would have thought the Barcrusher would barely notice harbour chop given the spiel the salesman gave me last week.

The G.S responds well to motor trim. Get the nose up and it will keep you pretty dry. My 4.35m Hornet did not respond to trim very well unless we were really moving along (50hp 2 stroke). Maybe the 140hp sorts the hull out better on the G.S (more hp per kg).

Get both boats of similar size on the same stretch of water in the same conditions and there will be your answer.

I have not been in a Bar Crusher but as I see it, a lot of it comes down to conditions and how the package performs as a unit. I have no doubt if I had a 115hp on the back I would be driving my boat a whole lot different than with the 140hp.

Props have a big influence on things too.

My point is to be careful how you compare apples and oranges.

slapper here is my 2 cents worth as i dont have a barcrusher. In my boat it slaps a bit in the chop unless i trim the motor in and get the nose down so it cuts through the water. also 42 knots that is a fast boat

Motor height set up is another important aspect of setting the boat up. An East Coast website had a large thread on this issue, where a boat would porpoise or would not let the hull perform correctly. Some hulls needed a wedge others had the trim issues fixed by altering the motor height.

The trick was to make sure the cav plate was pretty much inline with the bottom of the keel. Altering the height altered top end speed also.

Maybe get hold of a dealer down south and ask them what height they run the 150hp at?

I have a barcrusher 560WR which is the same hull but might ride slightly differently due to most of the weight on the boat being more central.I too was initially a bit dissapointed but I found they seem to be quite trim sensitive. So after I sort of got the motor trim and trim tab combinations a bit more sussed out, it certainly gives a good ride in the slop.It could go a lot faster and with more comfort than my previous boat a 560 quinnie legend although a bit splashy at times. But I have pretty much negated this by fitting clears around the consul and splash guards on the bow rails.I think they do need trim tabs fitted to get the best out of them.I have a suzuki 140 4/s on the back which at WOT gives me a top speed of 67 kilometres an hour.

Dex, you don’t have a link for that thread do you? I’d be interested to have a read.
