Rock circles south of Fog Bay

Noticed years ago these rock circles in shallow water on spring low tides along the coast from Fog Bay to the Moyles.

I've got better pictures somewhere but the archive is too big to search quickly, I just happen to stumble on this one. They are very circular formations and are obvious at low tide. This pic doesn't really do them justice.

Any geologists on here know what these things are?

Also curious to know how the Gunn Point Blue Holes formed, I asked a Darwin geology firm years ago but got no reply.

They are just crop circles for tin foil sharks.

I am not suggesting these are anything from the Twilight Zone :D

I am thinking lava tubes? But I know stuff all about geology. Can't imagine sedimentary rock ending up like that.

Freshwater eeltail Powertail make circular nests but these are a bit too big for fish nests ...

There's a much bigger one north of the ramp

There are a few places on the coastline with blue holes like the Gunn Point ones, but not as spectacular

I remember that spot, never occured to me that it was one of them. Used to troll past in a tinny.

Dunno about the bigger formations but maybe the smaller round ones are fish traps from thousands of years ago when sea level was a bit lower.

Pretty sure they are all solid rock Ron.

Could the rock circles be from bombs dropped in WW2?

Might have shifted the aged and firmer crusty sediment leaving just the exposed rock at the time.

Interesting thought re bombs, no shortage of them dropped around Quail Island/Bare Sandy back in the day.
