My COVID vaccination experience

Had the Pfizer vax last week, got mild nerve symptoms such as tingling tongue, pinprick sensations on skin, clearly it affects the nerves in some people as others have reported similar nerve issues.

All good though, better than getting a bad case of COVID.

A mate here had AZ vax and p...ed blood, ended up in hospital, says he met others with similar issues - seems like an awful lot of AZ patients if the risk is supposedly low. Might be why some European countries acted quickly on AZ.

(EDIT: He had kidney pain, had tests, blood in his urine, wasn't visible blood - he has fully recovered.)

Not trying to worry anyone, just seems that Pfizer is a better choice, and others are on the way, eg Novavax.

Anyone else had their vax?

I had the AZ and the only symptoms (if you could call it that) was a slight tight/stiffening of my calf muscle. i wanted a 3rd dose to see if it made other parts stiffer but they said no

They only had to spread a rumour that AZ added half an inch and Australia would have been fully vaccinated in three weeks.

I had my first Pfizer shot on Thursday, day 1 I just had a sore and didn't sleep very well. Days 2 & 3 I was very tied, headache & light headed. Today is day 4 and I'm feeling normal again, must be time to head out fishing again.

First Pfizer dose knocked me around after a week or so, ended up with flashers and floaters in left eye, opthalmologist said it was a vitreous detachment, but probably not from the vaccine because he had it and he was fine!

Also had assorted minor pains, prickly feelings, itching and burning. Seems to aggravate nerves. I put the second dose off so I can recover, kinda dreading the second shot.

Wife had Pfizer first dose with no issues.

Same experience as Dirvin 21 for first AZ dose in June but 3-4 days later after jab (overnight and most of next day).

Second one last week produced similar reaction but just overnight.

Good to hear Ron.

There's no choice in getting vaccinated IMO, it is obvious everyone will get this new Delta strain once things open up.

Good news re vax, from a recent news story from NSW ... “Of the 100 cases in ICU, 87 of those people are not vaccinated, and the remainder have had (only) their first dose of vaccine,” NSW deputy chief medical officer Dr Marianne Gale said.

Much the same reported overseas.

Had my 2nd jab 3 days ago. No symptoms whatsoever. Just a bit tender around the needle entry point. No worse than getting a fly hook in the finger.
I just hope they gave me the right jab and not a placebo

Good to hear nomad.

I had a look at Google Trends for the various vaccine side effects searches, and the mrna vaccines are leading the way.

AstraZeneca may have the blood clots issue but it looks like fewer people are looking up side effects for Astra.

Can't glean a lot from it though because you would have to compare total number vaccinated with each and where they live eg if they use Google.

So I had my second Pfizer jab before Xmas as it took a long time for things to resolve from the first one and I didn't want to make it worse.

Second jab, no issues, yay.

Wife had both, no issues.

A relly had an eye bleed a week after second Pfizer jab, had to have an op to get the blood out. Might be related to existing high blood pressure.

Currently getting my kids jabbed as Omicron is spreading like crazy, the vax may have side effects in some people but it's the lesser evil, and kids will almost certainly get COVID at school.

Have someone in the family with low iron blood levels even though we cook with an iron pan. Since discovered that low iron is a COVID risk so we are getting that sorted pronto.

They are letting it rip down here (Tasmania) now, controls seem to have been dropped or aren't working, they couldn't keep up with it. Paradise lost.

The Hobart hospital was maxed out before COVID so it's going to be interesting, a very good time to stay away from ladders and chainsaws ... https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-05/ ... /100739828

Hope you are all doing well.

Seems to be all Omicron down here, as no (recent) casualties but heaps of spread.
