Re: Inpex good news
Ichthys is in WA, ~400km North of Broome, ~800km pipe line from field to Darwin.
So different field you are thinking of.

Re: Inpex good news
E timor is a very poor country. I bet we could overcome the problem of a trench when it comes to $40B of riches
Irrespective of the trench, we stole their income. We used to share it 50/50 now its 80/20.
We Arbitrarily moved the boundary and stole their oil/gas – something you would expect the US or china would do.
They took us to the international court and won but Aust just ignored the decision, the only other country to ignore the intl court is china..
if we want fairness , then we must play by the rules.

- off shore processing/part processing ?
- load into big boat and transport
im sure someone with more brains than us could come up with a solution.
even if it cost them a trillion bucks, its better than what they get now

Take your blinkers off boys
This project has nothing to do with East Timor, the gas comes from W.A because Colin Barnett and his mostly crew put too much red tape on projects, the NT jumped on it and now we have a gas plant employing many locals in many capacities along with those who moved here encourage growth in Darwin.
There is no way this can be negative for the majority of people living here, there is space for expansion in the future so this is not a one off event.
You could all be here sitting saying there is nothing happening in NT if it wasn't for the WA stuff up, otherwise this would be a plant on James Price Point along the Browse plant as well and you'd have nothing right now.

Was the 'red tape' anything to do with the possibilty of effecting 000's of breeding humpback whales in that area?Simmo83 wrote: .... from W.A because Colin Barnett and his mostly crew put too much red tape on projects, the NT jumped on it and now we have a gas plant employing many locals ...
If there is even the slightest chance of any of these projects fukcing up the environment for our kids, they should be stopped - just my opinion ....

Re: Inpex good news
They should stick to using existing industrial points now. James Price and the Dampier Peninsula should be left well alone to remain a natural treasure. The tourist camps seem to be doing OK out that way, great way to make a sustainable dollar.

I tell a lie. She is doing the anchors for the Prelude (world's largest ship). It has 16 anchors and each link weighs a tonne. And the anchors are pylons driven into the sea floor.
The ship pictured by Matt, my wife is driving the accommodation block for it
