Nah, Luke.
At 38 you've still got a few years to go before you starting thinking about the endless stream of activists who have gone past over the years all mouthing their versions of how the rest of the country should be living their lives.
They're accompanied by the politicians who are clamouring for activist support at the ballot box.
As political fortunes and voters concerns wax and wane, so does the influence of the activists. Balance of power in the parliament stuff.
Currently its all out of balance with the activist minority having influence on gutless political parties. That'll change as the public's attention changes.
At the moment its all save the planet stuff but its starting to wane.
Suddenly, the public has found out that this save the planet stuff is costing a lot more than they thought it would.
Its impacting directly on household finances now and not just some ideological theory to worry about in the future.
Both of the major political parties are sucking up to these greenie activists who are being joined by more and more of the looney fringe who have spotted opportunity to further their particular cause.
The politically correct brigade, the morally correct brigade, the ABC as the voice of all of them, the gay brigade....the list goes on.
Whilst believing that these whackos are entitled to their opinions, I resent having those views thrust down my throat. THAT'S the issue as I see it.
There are 2 more serious and immediate issues that should be addressed (but aren't adequately) being poverty and problems in indigenous communities.
Australians are lucky that the majority of its people live a pretty good life. A whole lot better than most in the world.
But we do have a some real problems in common with the 3rd world.
We need to be concentrating more on the real and present ones and less on the supposed important distractions.
That's my view about the mess Aus seems to have gotten itself into. Too many latte-induced distractions.
Will my view change anything?
No it wont but all I can do is express it and hope it causes others to think a bit.
