Cant beat real up-to-date local news but most of the hr long bulletin is from elsewhere or overdubbed by local reporters. They are going to keep some of the local reporters here and just produce it in Brisbane and they tell us that it wont be any different - yeah right
(except for the employees who get the bullet).
Next to go will be the cameraman. It will end up like they do overseas where the reporter just sets up the iphone on a tripod and does the piece to camera on their own then emails it off to be produced.

Abc just don’t have the resources to do a real time report.

Both abc and 9 came up in the RAAF refueller exercise recently and 9 had it on tv that same night. 9 had a reporter and cameraman.
ABC just had the cameraman (no reporter) – he didn’t take notes or ask any questions (he’s a cameraman) - they took several days to produce a report to tv.
basically the same vision but a completely different report

Then again, who needs tv news when we have those indepth reputable investigative journalists like A Jones and other shock jocks for ALL of their news.
Mosy of my mates never watch or read ANY news and rely on those jocks - their views reflect what the shock jocks tell them

Any loss of local media is bad.

Lack of investigative journalists today is not a good thing, media companies don't have the budgets any more. It is like having fewer police. In the white collar world, spin and omission of information can be almost criminal in its intent.

Too many people listen to shock jocks etc, and believe what is on social media, while dissing scientists and journos who have been around for years. Interesting world.

Ive got a mate who rolls his eyes whenever the work scientist is mentioned. I ask him to show me one single thing where science isn’t involved. He rattled off a heap pf poop and I explained that science is behind everything.
He still doesn’t believe it. Obviously im not very good at making my point

ABC gives good news as it cuts through political messaging and reports news as news but 9 is very good at covering smaller community events. Both are very important.

Too much commentary in the media and not enough reporting. People need to be informed, not persuaded. D!ckhead shock jocks stiring up elements of society only makes it worse.

There are still some fantastic journalists getting around out there. Laura Tingle and Malcom Farr are old heads that report without bias. Journalists not commentators that is.

Nothing wrong with some informed opinion, if you can find it among all the uninformed opinion :D

Here's some good solid social media news ... http://yournewswire.com/1918-spanish-fl ... ng-report/
