Introduce yourself, talk about beer, crocs, headlines, dugongs or Paris Hilton.

Swamped

Post by Matt Flynn »

I remember the day when Buley Rockholes was quiet and peaceful ...

You can build more hotels but you can't build more waterfalls.

The minister says he is confident Aussie attractions can handle the growing numbers of Chinese tourists ... http://www.news.com.au/national/breakin ... 56e96b318a

My experience has been that beautiful places were swamped long before the world's most populous nation turned up.

I was at Freycinet last year and the locals were telling us how it has become chaos in the tourist season. I saw Wineglass Bay at the end of the off season, it was already busy. Wouldn't bother going there peak season, it would be awful unless you like crowds. But I guess if you live in a box in a city it would still be worth seeing these things with the crowds.

The secret will be in spreading tourists out, Australia needs to build a 'Big Bilby' or 'Big Echidna' and a wave lake out in the desert somewhere, the Desert Bondi :D :D :D

And build more run-off creeks ...
