Tiger snake?

Just had 11 x week-old chicks disappear overnight. I found the mother hen dead, seemingly without a mark on her.

Would a tiger snake eat that many chicks in a sitting?

I doubt the chicks would leave the hen carcass, so they would be easy pickings.

On YouTube a tiger snake eats a chick in four minutes. So maybe an hour to scoff 11?

Didn't hear a thing during the night. Quolls usually leave damage and feathers everywhere, but the dogs tend to keep them away now.

Happened right next to the house. I've had a look around, figure a fat, full snake would not have gone far, but no luck.

Must be a big bastard to eat 11!

If he ate that many I reckon he'd still be sleeping it off close by. Used to get big olives in the chook pen in Humpty Doo that would eat a couple and sleep in the corner of the chookshed for up to 24 hours. Mainly because they were to fat to get out of the wire netting [emoji23]

Aye, I figure he'd be sleeping nearby. Had a look but no luck. Hopefully it might be out in the sun tomorrow digesting dinner.

No. There is a little devil kicking around the area, he might have choked the chicken (haha) and then eaten the chicks. But the dogs make a racket when the devil is about. No sign of a snake. Baffled.
