Reel Servicing

Post by buzzdog »

Hi guys,
I'm new to Darwin and was wondering where would be a good place to have some of my reels serviced and gone over? I believe there was a member on here who did reel servicings, but who has since stopping doing so?

Cheers

Buzz

Hey mate just got 3x baitcasters done in the city (fishing and outdoor), the reels pretty average when they went in, now they're like a different reel! I think they were about 35 each plus a couple of bearings that were shagged on top of that. Casting beautifully now.

Yeah Buzz. Nagz was doing them, and a bl..dy good job as well, but no longer has the time. Most tackle shops offer servicing. Have also heard good reports from the shop next to RSL club.

The best in the biz up here is Peter Burke. He has been doing the reels for fishing and Outdoor World for over 20 years now. I just got my reel back from him yesterday and it is like new again. I've been using him for over 20 years myself. If you want to go directly to him call 0467512649. He lives out Howard Springs way. Otherwise pop your reels into F&OW and he will do it through them.

Just dont put all your reels in at once, It can take time to get them back depending on how much work he has. Through no fault of there own FOW can only give you a rough guessamate!!

Go to Craig's fishing ware house and ask for Malcolm. He knows his stuff and very reasonable priced.

Wouldn't go back to the one in town. After 2 weeks rang to find out how my two reels were going, got the reply of "yep all finished" make my way in and then told no there not back yet maybe later in the week, we will give you a call. After a week no call went on in and asked the question again, after about half an hour of them asking each other and rumbling through box's, holding up reels "is this yours" came to the conclusion no one knows where my reels are. Long story short took about 5 weeks from start to finish and even when i got them back wasn't the best job i have had done. this was a few years ago now so maybe changed for the best. But i won't get mine serviced there again.
