With Christmas only just around the corner im sure to get my hands on a few of those little plastic cards that give you a license to go nuts in a tackle shop.......
This perfectly coincides with my ever so trusty Daiwa HRF about to go into Retirment. What is everyones preference in Baitcaster reel? I dont mind spending the coin if its a good quality product..Cheers

I'm still using my trusty old original curado for casting, and an ancient shimano beastmaster of about 25-30 years old for trolling. maybe I need an upgrade too...

Both my barra reels are Shimano Calcutta's (200B and 300D). Love 'em

I got a 13 Fishing Concept A reel from Craigs for a decent price. I've been very impressed so far, it looks good, casts very smooth and is pretty light for long casting sessions.

Old mate in the store says he uses them for his charter business because they were easier to maintain in comparison to Zillions.
I'm loving mine so far but interested to see if it stands the test of time.

I've got a 13 - concept A also can't speak highly enough of it, I use it with a 13 omen black rod with 20lb braid for plastics fishing can feel everything... various gear ratios up to 8:1, 22lb drag and light as a feather... I am going to get a concept C on an enve black rod soon, love the 13 stuff

Nope. The 200 is quite small. Even the 300 is fine, but I mainly use that for trolling with a little bit of casting

Daiwa HRF.

Been carrying it in bag as a back-up for a few years.

As something happens to each of the newer fancy ones, out it comes until I can fix the problem.

Has never let me down. Old reliable.

Yeah Ronje mine is the same. More hits than the beatles but it keeps performing. I put a new set of Japanese High Spec bearings in it and can cast a mile with it again but i just feel i need to retire the poor thing.

I can't go past the Daiwa Alphas for our finesse style fishing.

Zillion HLC or Type R for a larger version.

Aren't the concept reels all magnesium? I know seano was selling.one a while ago that had the frame resprayed. Few mates have had them and the salt killed them pretty quick.

Shimano CORE is pretty good also.

Go and have a chat to Deepblack as he maintains reels all day long so should be able to give a good insight into what's what.

Shimano don't make the core anymore.
I sold mine a while ago due to lack of use and now I kick myself. Best reel they ever made.
