I saw on Facebook that Daiwa is bringing out a new baitcaster in the near future and it looks pretty good. Still waiting for specs to be released though.

will be interesting to find out the specs looks good but would say it wont be cheap.

Thhe specs will be interesting as will the availability of LH wind.

The JDM release will almost certainly include LH retrieve,
Ali frame should see it quite saltwater tolerant which is good from daiwa.
And I'm keen to give the "T" line guide design a go in some form.

Interesting that not to many people are interested in tackle tech/advancements on this board, be it shimano or daiwa...

Hard to speculate anything at all about that reel, based on a b/w pic, and no info, other than its a new model.
I hope that by the year 2013, daiwa can put a decent drag in a reel, I would settle for a 1990 shimano standard drag compared to most daiwa,s. And yes, I own plenty of both daiwa and shimano, both brands have pro,s and cons.

I've had to replace all of my diawas drags, except 3hi speed o/heads and one small thread line.
My 4 baitcasters, and a lone saltiga now have erskine drags, out of nececity.

You obviously didn't see the video link.......:/

Yes the drag on Daiwa seem to still be below Shimano but the daiwa reels are better because of their cast control.

Mag break better than DC in your opinion Justin?
I can't recall ever even casting a daiwa TBH.

All daiwa reels for the last 4 or so years have all had carbon tec drag washers in the bait casters.

i have a daiwa T3 and in my opinion the drag is as smooth as my other baitcasters that have had
carbontex washers fitted. none of the chatter that was present in earlier model daiwas.

Diegs,took daiwa until the year 2009 to make a smooth drag? Yay.
I like diawa reels, and Abu,and shimani and quantam and pfluger,Penn to.
Don't like forking out $500 for a reel I need to modify out of the box,
Glad to hear they have sorted out their drag problems, the guys that buy their reels in the future will be happy, but for me to buy another diawa, it will have to be lighter than air,look like the space shuttle, and have a tree aviding radar cast control, and same month service guaremtee

Didn't know that I'm still putting them in their bait casters from time to time. Must be older models they do last well.

Ken its hard to say about the dc verses mag have used both and my mag control is not far off. I fish with a mate with dc and I can cast as far and a wide range of lures. I like the Daiwa set up as its on the outside of the reel to adjust so int the wind a slight adjustment and no problem. And cost, dc has a much higher price.

I use an alpha type r and zillion type r and I really like the drag setups on them. Nice and smooth and easy to adjust aswell as excellent casting control. A few years ago I didn't think much of them but now I'm willing to fork out that bit extra dosh for a daiwa now

Got a few zillion type r's but will be looking into these bit more in depth when they hit the shelves.
