Hi Guys and Girls.

With hopefully less than 12 months until the move north I am starting to look at gear. I have a Daiwa T3 baitcaster and I'm after suggestion on what rod I should match it too. I'm looking at spending up to about the $350/$400 mark.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Steve

Can't stand the ACS reel seat on the barra raiders.
St Croix, with their replacement warranty seem good value.

Or if you are not into Raider rods the GL3 CR665 from G-Loomis is a good quality rod. 14-25lb rating but are around the $300 mark. You get what you pay for

Cheers guys.
I see a lot of the rods mentioned are quite short, is there a reason for this? Do longer rods struggle? I'm a bream and bass fisho down here, 6'10" is my short rod.

You need a bit of compromise with length so you can get more power. I use a 10 kg live fibre territory custom. Its 5'9

Personally do not like anything above 5' 6", longer rods put more stress on your wrist when working lures or playing fish, somewhere between 5' 2" and 5' 6" is good IMHO.

Had most 6' models gloomis but found the crankbait 6'3 the best.
My favorite toy at the moment is a 5'8 aussie model st croix. how do you go pass the life time (non conditional) replacemnt warranty for 350-400.

I tried breaking mine on jewies and the accsional snag but havent suceeded yet :D

I'm a fan of the Daiwa rods, I've got two Zillions, one 6'6 12-25lb for trolling and casting big lures for big fish and a 6'9, 10-20lb purely for casting, love them both.
I like the longer rods, long casts and great control of fish.
