fish finder/map

Post by pelletouse »

hi guys
I would like some genuine recommendation or advice on which model and brand of sounder to buy. As i'm getting sick of my little lowrance hook 2, 4inch without map. It does a good job but i'm so frustrated that it doesn't contain any map which could be useful sometimes instead of using my phone with my navionics map, to avoid to run out off battery. I can mark fish but it's not always clear.
So i have been looking for a new or good second hand fish finder over the last few weeks but i don't what to buy.
Actually i'm fishing for Barra in creeks and i'm fishing wrecks and reef also, so my main question is what brand or model would be a good compromise for different type of fishing?
My budget can be around 1K but if I can find cheaper i won't complain. I don't want to buy something expensive that i won't fully use.
I hope my request is clear.
Thanks in advance
cheers

mate i have the lowrance hds9 gen 3 ,it is a great ,easy to use unit with side image .i have had humminbird too and i reckon the bird has better side image facilities and picture.the touch screen improvement on the gen 3 are brilliant and great to scroll thru .there are second hand units around in your price range .the transducer is pretty big but i havnt yet had a prob with it breaking or bending up
