Cheap Chinese quad bikes

Post by Matt Flynn »

Anyone tried these? ... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Elstar-Tank- ... SwzJ5XT8jZ

Surprisingly few online reviews, probably because they end up with a million different retail brand names.

Just looking for something to cruise around the farm with my chainsaw and ice-hockey mask ...

I've been keeping an eye on some for sale fb pages in qld, thinking about getting a used one for my grandkids...fair few around, most common complaint on the used ones seems to be carbies and batteries, both probably low quality from the start but easily changed out for better parts, they seem to be straight knockoffs of mainstream models, so proper bits can bolt straight on

From what I can ascertain, they do the job if you keep maintenance up and aren't into racing type riding.

I bought a 49cc chinese one a few years back (Cost me $500), flogged around on it myself (90KG - topping almost 40KM/H) and my daughter learnt to ride on it. I ended up doing a clutch from too many skids. I ended up buying a brand new complete motor for $120 landed at my door, 6 bolts and it was changed over. Best investment for a few years of fun, then sold it for $400
