A clear and simple explanation of an issue that is always current and very pertinent with boat owners/campers.

there was a piece in a 4x4 magazine a while back that was talking about the towing weight of various 4x4 dual cabs and the differing weight allowances .. they said the car companies put their own towing capacities on their 4x4 as long as they stayed within the legal formula to determine the towing weight.. they said some 4x4 companies pushed the boundaries so far that when you chuck your boat on the back one driver in the 4x4 and his bait ...your over weight ..
some companies are much more honest in their evaluation of towing weights..

I was always a bit suss on some of those tow ratings.

Bit suss on ladder ratings too, don't like pushing boundaries 12ft up :D

Ive never yet seen a caravan that wasnt overloaded. The usual max is 300kg. by the time you fill the water tanks, add clothes and food, you are way over the 500kg mark.
